About GMM, LLC

Based out of Greenwood, Indiana, my journey into mushroom cultivation began in 2022, I received a ready-to-fruit block of lion's mane mushrooms. Fascinated by the growth process, I built a small fruiting chamber—a humble humidity box crafted from a plastic tote—and managed to achieve some success. Watching the mushrooms thrive sparked a fascination that quickly evolved into an obsession.

This passion led me to dream of producing mushrooms for my local farmers market. I began scaling up operations to meet the demand, envisioning trays of gourmet mushrooms at market stalls. However, in my enthusiasm for cultivation, I overlooked the research and planning necessary for selling them. By the time I contacted my local farmers market, they were either full of vendors, or already had a mushroom vendor. Reaching out to other farmers markets in the area yielded the same result—there simply wasn’t room for another mushroom vendor.

Suddenly, I was left with a new problem: what to do with the abundance of mushrooms I was growing?

Determined not to let them go to waste, I turned to Facebook Marketplace and began offering them to the community for free. The response was overwhelmingly positive, and the experience proved to be more rewarding than I could have imagined. Sharing my harvest introduced me to wonderful people and built relationships that would, over time, become incredibly meaningful.

This experience shifted my perspective. Instead of growing mushrooms solely for profit, I realized I could use my passion for fungi to give back to my community and foster connections.

Today, this ethos drives everything I do. Growing mushrooms isn’t just a hobby—it’s a way to bring people together, share my love of cultivation, and contribute to something bigger than myself.
